This doctor starts booking appointments at 1:30 and almost never physically shows up to the office until 2:30. He books three patients for one time. For example, 3 appointments for 1:30, 3 appointments for 2:00, 3 patients for 2:30 etc... but as I said, does not ever bother to show up to the office until 2:30. Forget about complaining to him, he does not care. He also will not prescribe benzo's which for a psychiatrist is inexcusable. He is a likeable man otherwise but those two things have me searching for another doctor.
My first suggestion is to get an early appointment. He has so many cancellations because of the kind and type of medicine he practices, it is unreal. Expect to wait forever if you have a later appointment and some of the other patients actually show up. He overbooks his appointments much like airlines overbook their flights. He knows that many of his appointments will be chasing butterflies, somewhere, instead of showing up to see him and get their meds. Be forewarned!
His office when u call them the secretary is verry rude .she got mad at me because I called in because I lost my appointment card and she was why u need to know ur appointment for u should of not lost ur card. And then their is times they don't answer their phone and let it go to voice mail all day.
As an aside, no one should ever see a Psychiatrist without a trained coach, social worker, or psychologist involved.
WJAT A JOKE. I DO NOT TAKE DRIGS I VALUE MY HEALTH AND I TAKE MY HEALTH CARE VERY SERIOUSLY.
IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR HEALTHCARE NEEDS FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR...OH YOU WILL WAIT AT LEAST AN HOUR AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT TO BE SEEN. HOPE ALL GOES WELL FOR YOU THANKS FOR TAKING MY EXPERIENCE IN CONSIDERATION.
Other than that, Dr. Desai is a very like-able guy. He accurately diagnosed me, put me on a med that I would prefer be cheaper, but other than that did an outstanding job of treating me.
This doctor is a quack!!! These bad reviews are pretty accurate. Except the one that was saying stuff about the receptionist. I actually find her to be nice and helpful. She kinda does have a mean tone though at times. Other than her, Dr. Desai will at times quadruple over book you. I get if he double booked but, this is un acceptable! I have waited for a hour before, to only see him for like 15 minutes. He hasn't diagnosed me, because I was in the hospital for trying to commit suicide and the hospital already diagnosed me. All he does is maintain my medications. I take stratarra, prozac, and trazadone. I used to take vyvanse before the Strattera, but he didn't want to give me a addictive narcotic. I get it. Recently I sprained my ankle and I take tramadol for it. I told Dr desai that I am taking it now. He said okay. He put up my dose of prozac. Today I look up the interactions with tramodol (out of curiosity) and I find that it interacts with any SSRI antidepressants. Prozac is a SSRI. Then I found out that the Trazadone is also part SSRI. Taking all these pills can cause a Seratonin reaction. I have been having the symptoms of it, and I don't want to go to Mansfield Hospital. That hospital is bad. So I am screwed. I hope to plan to get the hell out of desais care and go to a PROPER psychiatrist.
A PSYCHIATRIST WHO DOES NOT PRESCRIBE LORAZEPAM FOR ANXIETY...OR ZOLPIDEM FOR SLEEP. THESE ARE THE ONLY TWO MEDS I TAKE THAT I HAVE BEEN ON FOR FIVE YEARS AND HE IS A PSYCHIATRIST WHO DOES NOT PRESCRIBE CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES???
